UI Demos - Andrew Colclough
Design Thoughts
Here are a few brief examples of my design aesthetic applied to various situations. Items with a link icon jump to functional HTML wireframe/designs. Any item with a green border indicates a final design.
The design was geared to promote a book for new visitors, and to provide extra content to people after they have purchased the book.
The Standards Validity Study Application consists of lengthy pages of questions and form input. The final design here was built to get out of the way and help users focus on the content, yet maintain enough organization and separation between elements.
Since OnePress shines at highlighting choice content, the concept for OPTheme 1 is to make good use of a "Main Feature" carousel section. This design is currently being built and refined.
Overhauling the Stroids UI with a sleek 'Spacy' HUD design.
The CPAS UI is based around allowing a user to insert content types directly into their document. Initially, the insert menus were repeated between each content block. That was too much visual information. Next - the menus appeared only on hover between blocks. This variation was just a little too obscure and could leave users confused who are unfamiliar with the interface. Finally, the insert blocks are relegated to persistent handles in the left margin, which show the user the insertion zone on hover. So far, this strikes a decent balance. Check out the semi-funtional demo by clicking the last thumb, but be aware, this UI is being worked on live and is subject to constant change.
